Tianjin Tianli Pigeon Loft 500km Finals ended up perfectly!

    There were 4193 pigeons gathered on Oct. 29th for the 2021 Tianjin Tianli Pigeon Loft Finals. All pigeons wore the Jixiangle GPS rings to record their flight track. Liberation was at 07:10 on Oct. 30th. There were 3110 pigeons returning until Nov. 1st and the return rate was 74.17%. All data has been uploaded to the website and the reading well rate was 99.96%.

     One of the flight tracks was odd and the analysis by the Jixiangle technician is below:

162nd band no.2021-16-0598357 GPS:60703991  The GPS position was lost due to the weak satellite signal.

    This pigeon was examed by the referee on site. It was qualified since the seal and the GPS ring were completed. 

     Here is the explanation of the reason why some trackers made the first points which were far from the beginning place 10 or even 20 KM.

     The main reason is that GPS was just cold starting. It took more time to position the first point. The GPS was set to position the point per 10 minutes. If the track didn't complete positioning, the next time to position the point would be 10 minutes later.

     we assumed that the speed of the pigeon was 1200 m/min and then the pigeon would have flown 12 KM in 10 minutes. Therefore we would find the first point was far from the beginning place at 12 KM. 

we took the example below:

     There are two tracks in the pictures above. One is that positioning was completed in working time and the other failed. We can find the time of the first point was 07:26 and the other had no point due to failure of positioning. The GPS tracker would become hibernate mode in order to save power even if it didn't complete positioning the first point.

     The next time when the GPS tracker worked was 10 minutes later. We can find the point was shown at 07:36 and the other tracker also showed up the point. The distance was therefore 12 KM.

Jixiangle GPS tracker
